Wellness Visits

Leila "Bean"- 3 years old

Weight: 32.8 lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 37.6 in (60th percentile)
BMI: 16.31 kg/m2(65th percentile)
Pulse: 90
BP: 90/50
Eye exam: 20/25

In the last year, Leila has conquered some big tasks: moving into a big girl bed (no rail now), getting rid of her pacifier for good, going to the dentist,& potty training (with pull- ups at night only). She still occassionally has pee accidents. She talks like crazy, it's funny that I was ever concerned about it. She talks in complete sentences & you can understand just about everything she says. She has quite a personality- can be crazy at times & defiant at home, but does really well at school & dance class listening and learning. This past week she got an award from her teacher for "being a great helper" in class. The nurse also said she was "amazed" that she was able to complete the full eye exam, as most 3years old don't. She can be challenging at times, but we are so proud of her and the little girl she has become. Our biggest obstacle has been getting her to eat- she is extremely picky and just doesn't eat a lot (you'd never know by her weight percentile), I guess I need to just let it go as I've been told. She still takes a 1-2.5 hour nap during the day, goes to bed around 8:30 and gets up between 7-8 am. She has been good about watching 1 show and reading one book before bed, and still sleeps with her Curious George (and an assortment of other stuffed animals). She is in 3 & 4T clothes. She loves princesses, dress-up, my little ponies, squinkies, puzzles, Doc McStuffins, Fresh Beat Band, and Mickey Mouse. She has weekly playdates with Cayden, Parker, Carly, and Ella. And, she just loves her little brother!

Chase "Bugga"- 4 months old

Weight: 15 lbs, 11 oz. (50th percentile)
Height: 25.5 in (75th percentile)
Head Circ.: 42.2 cm(75th percentile)
BMI: 16.96 kg/ m2

Chase and Leila are very similar developmentally & growth-wise so far, but they are very different babies in their habits. It is amazing to me that you can do the same things & your children can still be so different. Chase was easier initially but is harder now. He is still eating 5-6 ounces every 3 hours (sometimes even earlier) during the day. And he continues to spit up A LOT, it may have gotten a little better but is still very annoying. They call him a "happy spitter" because he doesn't even get bothered by it. The doctor said it should resolve by 6-8 months. He is mostly breastfed but we occasionally give him a bottle of formula when needed. We are going to start rice cereal soon. He is quickly growing out of his 6 month clothes already. As far as sleeping through the night, he had a bad month of reverting back to getting up 2-3x/night, but now he is back to sleeping better. He still varies though, sometimes he sleeps up to 9 hours, other nights wakes up at 5 hours, then goes back to sleep after eating. We really never know what the night will bring. He sleeps in his sleep sack but still likes to be rocked to sleep. This child never likes to be put down during the day (unless he is playing), it is a huge obstacle for us. He'll be sound asleep in my arms but the minute I put him down he wakes up!! He is such a delight though, he has such a cuddly personality and is so playful when he is awake. I foresee a mama's boy in his future!! Oh, and he is laughing now- there's nothing better than hearing him laugh!!
